Week 5

It's been a good week, all in all and my mind feels a lot more focused on my training and working towards achieving my goals. I have been meditating everyday for at least 15 minutes but sometimes longer, so maybe this has something to do with it? I also stepped up my training a couple of gears, as I not only work to meet the UBBT requirements but also to be adequately prepared to test for Sandan with my affiliated association, the Japan Karate Shotorenmei. I recently switched associations,…See More

"See all that white space?  That's actually "not the way." However, this form is an easy way for me to track what gets done.  Or what doesn't get done.  I plan to use the back for notes on kindness, nutrition,…"

A WOW! This is Leadership at its BEST.

Good morning team!  Wanted to share Marshall Reed's story about weight loss.  This young man is AMAZING and an amazing example of leadership.  I was inspired by his story and SO excited about how he helped others.  He went to his mother and said "I am done."  He was tired of being fat and out of shape.  He started his weight loss journey and became the leader of his family in the process.  He calls his journey "Portion Size Me."  I feel that we can share Marshall's story to help students,…See More

Ultimate Black Belt Test Journal, Giancarlo Fusco: Moving Forward.

Last week’s post was difficult for me to write, but also cathartic at the same time (and, judging from the overwhelmingly positive responses and love from many people, I think it may have had a similar effect on them, too). Once I posted it, I was able to continue moving…See More

Masters of Simplicity

I have always tried to live my life mindfully simplistic. Minimalistic living has its benefits — less stress, more focus, and the global benefit that comes from opting out of the conspicuous consumption paradigm. As my mindfulness practice continues to evolve, I am much more aware of how complexity has a way of covertly oozing its way…See More

Feel Good Friday...World Peace and other 4th Grade Achievemnts

Feel Good Friday...World Peace and other 4th Grade AchievementsWorld Peace is a game invented by a teacher. His 4th graders play it and there is no winner until everyone in the game is at peace, safe, secure and on solid economic footing. Thus it is a game of cooperation. One person can’t win, everyone has to win. It is not a zero sum game, in other words, it is not based on finite resources…See More
