Be Bold, and Proceed

This is the time of year my students tend to become inspired an motivated to refocus, retool, and begin their drive for black belt. Nothing like seeing a few of their peers get promoted to light the old fire.I will be meeting with a few of my students this week to help them get on track to achieve their goals over the next…See More

ultimate Black Belt Test Kandice Mallinger: January Ends with Progress 01-30-12

January 2012 is ending -- hard to believe.  Tempus fugit!  This week I lost a pound but more importantly my body composition is changing.  I have a total loss of 10 pounds for the month but my thighs are smaller and my cardio endurance is much better.  I WILL go tomorrow and pick up a tape measure and figure out my BMI so I can track those numbers as well. This week slid all over the road but hey at least I didn't lock up the brakes!  I lost a pound, busted out 3 high intensity Zumba classes, 3…See More

UBBT Journal: Heidi Wilmott/Natural Selection

Well, another week has gone by and many things accomplished-repetitions done, miles logged, acts of kindness happening, projects worked on, etc. We had a Belt Test on Friday so I spent a major part of the week planning and getting students ready. It was a small test (we are still settling in to our own testing pattern since becoming independent) but the testers were mighty and made for a very exciting evening-capped off by Professor Mike imparting some wisdom to the young students and their…See More

Ultimate Black Belt Test Journal, Giancarlo Fusco: Fall down 7... (Or, A Month In Review)

Coach Tom Callos has made it clear that transparency, being open and honest with others as well as ourselves, is an extremely important part of this test and growth as a martial artist. Making this year's test public was a big hurdle for me, but I knew, after looking at some of my teammates' posts, that making my monthly reviews public is also necessary for my contiued growth. Below, you'll see the GDoc spreadhseet I've been using to track my training requirements (to see the updated…See More
